*hits the blunt* yugioh was propaganda because the season they opened the anime with in the US started by making you pity yugi for losing his exodia cards in like, the second episode i think it was. basically this fuck has a huge unfair advantage over everyone else in the world and is planning to use it to win a cash tournament. but you’re supposed to feel bad for him when he loses that advantage and ends up on an even playing field because the cards are “his property”. exodia is capital and yugi moto is the bourgeoisie

It’s basically 1/3rd Brutal Berserk-style MGS3 in 1890s Japan, 1/3rd Hunting and Cooking anime, and 1/3rd REACTION IMAGE GOLDMINE. It has lots of fun and exciting action that’s shown in a realistic and easy to understand way, which is pretty rare in manga. Plus there’s tons of information on Ainu Culture (the Japanese equivalent of Native Americans basically) as well as 1890s Japanese history in general. and cooking. lots of cooking. And on top of all that, both the main characters and the villains are all written so well, sometimes you root for both sides, just cause of how unique they are. Like for reals, Sugimoto the Immortal is my new favorite character. Imagine if Big Boss and Guts had a son and that’d be him, the main character. I’d recommend buying the physical manga, but that doesnt release until June so you’re free to check it out online. I’ve already pre-ordered mine.
